A Counterfeit Banknote Case That Sends Conan to Osaka
The special is titled 30-gō Satsujin Jiken (30号殺人事件), roughly "The No. 30 Murder Case," and its plot starts with money. According to the official synopsis, a new 10,000-yen note designed around Tōto Tower has just gone into circulation. While the country is still buzzing about it, Conan, the Detective Boys, Professor Agasa, Ran and Sonoko visit the Nagano plant of the Japan Banknote Printing Bureau. Elsewhere, Tokyo Metropolitan Police investigators turn up counterfeit bills at a murder scene, and Conan and Heiji Hattori head for Osaka, where the fakes are believed to have been printed.
Japanese anime news site Anime Hack reports that the forgery grows into a national crisis, played out by what the production calls one of the largest all-star casts in the TV series' history. Fumiharu Kamanaka directs and Takeharu Sakurai writes the screenplay, with TMS Entertainment producing alongside Yomiuri TV and Shogakukan. A teaser visual and a trailer are already out.
Elaiza Ikeda Plays a Forensic Document Examiner
Actress Elaiza Ikeda takes the guest voice role of Tōko Satomi (里見透子), a document examination technician at the National Police Agency's National Research Institute of Police Science. Her job in the case is to analyze the banknotes the murder victim was carrying.
The broadcasters involved are also lending the episode their own announcers: Natsumi Kawade of Nippon TV and Hina Masuda of Yomiuri TV both appear as guests.
Misohitojima no Satsujin Hands the Deduction to Viewers
The second announcement came without a date. Alongside the September special, the anime will produce Misohitojima no Satsujin (三十一島の殺人), described as the first viewer-participation original story in the TV series' history, in which viewers are asked to work out the culprit themselves. Broadcast timing has not been set. The script comes from Takahiro Okura, a mystery novelist who has written for both the TV series and the film series, including the 2022 movie released in English as Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween.
Series director Yasuichiro Yamamoto, who came up with the format, says the idea goes back more than 20 years, to when he watched a drama called Anraku Isu Tantei (The Armchair Detective). Once the anniversary year was locked in with the January special Episode "ZERO": The Shinichi Kudo Aquarium Case and with 30-gō Satsujin Jiken, he pushed to close out the year with something in a regular broadcast slot, and got the green light. He adds that the project started out "aiming for zero correct answers," then jokes that he is not sure whether it worked.
Looking Ahead
30-gō Satsujin Jiken airs September 25, 2026 at 9:00 p.m. on Friday Roadshow, the Nippon TV network's long-running Friday movie block, carried nationally through Yomiuri TV. The teaser trailer is up now on the official Detective Conan anime YouTube channel.
No international broadcast or streaming plan has been announced for the special. Netflix and Crunchyroll do carry a curated selection of Detective Conan episodes with a new English dub that began rolling out in 2025, though neither service streams the series in full. Anyone who wants the source material in English can turn to Viz Media, which publishes Gosho Aoyama's manga as Case Closed. Misohitojima no Satsujin still has no date.
