Two Faces, Two Voices
Aniplex unveiled the casting on its own news program AniplexOneFocus, streamed on September 11, according to Japanese anime news site Anime Anime. The new promotional video (PV) is built around the manga's central hook: Otogi and Toki each wear a flawless public face, and only the two of them know what's underneath.
Nao Ojika (小鹿なお) takes on Otogi Katsura, the first-year class president whose classmates see her as pure sugar. Ojika said that Otogi's strong-willed, straightforward personality is her idea of the ideal girl, and that she was so happy when she passed the audition she could have jumped for joy. She's confident that the gap between Otogi's public face and her real one will win over "all of humanity," and promised to take care in portraying how Otogi gradually changes and grows through her interactions with Toki and the rest of the cast.
Taito Ban (坂泰斗), who voices Sung Jinwoo in Solo Leveling, plays Toki Ninomae, the vice president who is gentle with everyone and looks like the perfect boy. Ban said the gap between Toki's public and private sides pulled him in the moment he read the manga: behind that perfect exterior is another face nobody has seen. He packed everything he's learned so far into the audition, he said, and is thrilled to get to play a character with that much depth. His pitch to fans: enjoy the story of the two faces that only Otogi and Toki know about, set against the manga's delicate, vivid world.
Kensuke Ushio Produces the Score
The music credit is the other headline here. Kensuke Ushio (Chainsaw Man, A Silent Voice) is credited as music producer, while Yūnosuke Senoo and Yuhki Kurihara, who previously worked on the anime Shunkashūtō Daikōsha: Haru no Mai, handle composition. Anime Anime notes that Ushio's recent work includes the Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc film and the NHK morning drama Bakebake.
Ushio's comment ties directly into the show's premise. He said he hopes to turn the space between the face people show others and the feelings that slip out unbidden into music, and to capture what can't be put into words.
From Dessert to MAPPA
Coco Uzuki's manga has run in Kodansha's Monthly Dessert since 2023 and now has 2.35 million copies in circulation as of September 2026. It won the Kodansha Manga Award among other prizes, and Anime Anime notes it picked up buzz on social media almost as soon as serialization started. Kodansha USA publishes the English edition.
MAPPA, which marked its 15th anniversary in June 2026, handles animation production. Yasutomo Okamoto directs, with Mariko Oka on character design and Yōhei Yamazaki on series composition. Takumi Hashimoto is art director, Kana Tanabe handles color design, Shunsuke Taniguchi is director of photography, Ayumu Takahashi edits, and Yuriko Waki is animation producer. The production's own pitch, quoted in the Anime Anime report, is a "MAPPA x love story" chemistry aimed at delivering "the best love story of the Reiwa era."
Looking Ahead
Fall in Love, You False Angels is scheduled to air on Japanese TV in 2027. No season, network, or episode count has been announced, and there's no word yet on an international streaming partner. Aniplex's involvement through the AniplexOneFocus program and its official YouTube channel is the only distribution clue so far.
