The Trailer Runs From Guild Firing to Second Life
The main trailer starts where the series does. Rein Garland gets thrown out of Beast King's Fang (王獣の牙), the adventurer guild whose gear he spent years enchanting, and the video follows him through a string of meetings with new companions and into the carefree second life the show's title promises. According to Dengeki Online, the Japanese games and entertainment site that ran the reveal, the trailer moves from noisy back-and-forth between the new party members to a standoff with a much stronger opponent, packing the series' gag comedy, adventuring and unpredictable turns into a single reel.
The main visual splits along the same seam. Rein sits at the center with a cheerful expression, ringed by Blue Crystal guild members Lily Flumbell, Elsy Zora and Nina, plus A-rank adventurer Margaret Else with her dog Donguri, and the assassin Mirabell, all of them looking up toward the viewer. Looming around that group, wreathed in an ominous mood, are Beast King's Fang guild master Barios, deputy guild master Glenda, guild adventurers Cornelius and Hanbun, the hereditary assassin known as Assassin Mom, and a phosphorescent dragon (燐光竜).
Three Veterans Join, and One of Them Plays a Dog With No Lines
Takumi Yamazaki voices Donguri, Margaret's dog, who is in love with her. Yamazaki plays the Kasugai crow in Demon Slayer, and he submitted most of his comment in barks before switching to plain Japanese to note that the role has no dialogue at all: Donguri only says "wan." He also mentions that the character design keeps getting simplified as production goes on, to the point where it has picked up the nickname "one-stroke drawing," and that when the dog calls for Margaret he bends the bark into something that sounds like "nushi." He would like a capsule toy. He would also like a plush.
Taiten Kusunoki plays Barios, the Beast King's Fang guild master who fires Rein. English-language readers will know Kusunoki best as Leonard Burns in Fire Force and Morel McCarnathy in Hunter x Hunter, though the credit Dengeki Online chose to lead with is his work as the Japanese dub voice of Darth Vader. Kusunoki says he read the original manga and was looking forward, as a fan himself, to seeing how its particular atmosphere and tempo would survive the jump to animation, and he asks viewers not to miss a single episode.
Megumi Toyoguchi (Revy in Black Lagoon, Winry Rockbell in Fullmetal Alchemist) takes Glenda, the deputy guild master described as cold but trusted by the rest of Beast King's Fang. Her comment is the funniest of the three. She says the recording sessions were the exact opposite of a carefree second life, and greedy in the best sense: a take that would have been fine anywhere else was not good enough here, with everyone pushing for more. She signs off by clarifying that she personally is normal.
sumika, P.A.WORKS and the Rest of the Credits
The opening theme is sumika's "Ember Torch" (エンバートーチ). sumika member Kenta Kataoka said in his comment that it is rare to see affection for a work scattering in this many directions at once, and that he wrote the song while taking in the sense that staff and fans were raising Chi-Fuyo, the series' abbreviated Japanese title, freely between them. He hopes the music grants the show one more cheat.
P.A.WORKS (Shirobako, Angel Beats!) is animating, with Shū Honma directing and Yōko Yonaiyama on series composition. Tadahito Kiyosawa handles character design and chief animation direction, with Masami Gohda covering gag and sub-character design plus chief animation direction. Arisa Okehazama composes the score, Ryōsuke Naya is sound director, and Shochiku is the lead producer.
Daiki Yamashita (Izuku Midoriya in My Hero Academia) stars as Rein Garland, with Lynn as Lily Flumbell and Yoshino Aoyama as Margaret Else. The rest of the announced cast includes Miyu Tomita as Mirabell, Megumi Han as Elsy Zora, Konomi Kohara as Nina, Makoto Furukawa as Cornelius, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Hanbun, and Rie Shibata as Assassin Mom.
The anime adapts the manga by Asa Rokushima, Gyōmuyō Mochi and kisui, serialized on Kodansha's Monthly Magazine Base web platform.
Looking Ahead
The advance screening and talk event runs on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Shinjuku Piccadilly, a cinema in central Tokyo, with doors at 11:00 and the program starting at 11:30. Daiki Yamashita, Lynn, Yoshino Aoyama and director Shū Honma are scheduled to appear. Reserved seats are ¥3,000 (about $20), with AKRacing BOX seats at ¥4,000, before booking fees.
The series premieres October 6, 2026 in the 24:00 slot on TV Tokyo and its affiliates, followed by AT-X on October 8, and Crunchyroll is streaming it as it airs in Japan.
