Chronoa Comes Back, but Not as a Hero
The official synopsis for episode 94, "Tamashii no Arika" (roughly, "Where the Soul Lies"), runs two sentences and still gives away more than most weekly summaries do. Once the seal is broken, Chronoa is not a "Hero." What emerges is a mindless embodiment of destruction, and the power gap is wide enough that Rimuru has to reach for a trump card. The synopsis doesn't say what that trump card is.
Hitomi Ogawa wrote the episode and Kenji Yasuda, who also serves as assistant director on Season 4, drew the storyboards. Four chief animation directors are credited on this one, a big crew for a single late-night episode. Japanese anime news site Animate Times ran the staff list and 10 advance stills on September 8.
Three Weeks of Buildup Land Here
Episode 94 caps a stretch built entirely around this character. Animate Times' earlier posts on the season list episode 92 as "Yuusha Kuronoa: Zenpen" and episode 93 as "Yuusha Kuronoa: Kouhen," the two halves of a story titled "Hero Chronoa." Before that, episode 91 was "Shi to Shoushitsu" ("Death and Disappearance") and episode 90 was "Seihou Douran" ("Western Turmoil"). All four episodes lead into the seal that breaks in episode 94.
The title is worth noting on its own. An episode called "Where the Soul Lies," arriving right after the reveal that the figure carrying the Hero's name has no mind left, points the audience at a specific question rather than a fight.
Five Split Cours, Two Airing Back to Back
Season 4 is running across five split cours. The first two are airing back to back, starting April 3, 2026 and rolling into the second cour on July 3. Eight Bit produces, with Naokatsu Tsuda directing, Atsushi Nakayama supervising and Yasuda as assistant director, a three-person leadership setup that is uncommon in TV anime. Daoko's "TACTIC" opens the current cour, with Azusa Tadokoro's "Hymnal" closing it.
The season's premise, per the official summary: after opening its borders and establishing diplomatic ties with neighboring nations, the Jura Tempest Federation starts working toward the "Monster-and-Man Cooperative Alliance," a world where humans and monsters live side by side. Standing against that is Granbell Rozzo, a former Hero who heads the Five Elders of the Siltrozzo Kingdom, along with his granddaughter Mariabell. Both of them argue for protecting humanity through domination, and their scheming puts them on a direct collision course with Rimuru. Elsewhere, in the golden realm of Eldorado, Demon Lord Leon starts moving toward a goal of his own. One "Hero" is about to wake up in the middle of all of it.
Miho Okasaki voices Rimuru, with Manami Numakura as Hinata, Daisuke Ono as Granbell and Inori Minase as Mariabell. Takahiro Sakurai (Diablo), Tomoaki Maeno (Veldora) and Natsuki Hanae (Yuuki) also appear in the season's regular cast.
Looking Ahead
Episode 94 airs Friday, September 11 at 23:00 on Nippon TV's FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT block, carried across 30 stations nationwide. BS11 follows on September 12 at 22:00, AT-X on September 13 at 21:30, and Animax on October 3 at 20:00. Japanese subscription and pay-per-episode streaming opens September 12 at 23:00, with catch-up streaming from September 16 at noon.
Internationally, Crunchyroll simulcasts the season on Fridays at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET, with English subtitles and an English dub. The light novels the anime adapts, written by Fuse, are published in English by Yen Press, so anyone who wants to read past the broadcast has a legal route.
On the home video side, the first Blu-ray volume of Season 4 is listed for October 28, 2026 in Japan at ¥19,800 for the special limited edition, with volume 2 following November 27. Three more cours are still to come after this one.
