Ikumi Hasegawa and Ayumu Murase Lead the Cast
The anime announcement arrived alongside an ultra teaser PV on the KADOKAWAanime YouTube channel, giving fans a first look at the show's visuals and both lead performances.
Ikumi Hasegawa (Ikuyo Kita in Bocchi the Rock!, Vladilena Milizé in 86) voices Soara, a girl raised solely to fight monsters who suddenly finds herself without a war to fight. Ayumu Murase (Shōyō Hinata in Haikyu!!) plays Kiriku, a young dwarf who calls himself a "Demon Realm Architect" and builds homes for monsters instead of slaying them.
In her casting comment, Hasegawa said she was captivated by the manga's heartwarming story and detailed world from her very first read. She described watching Kiriku's crew construct their houses as feeling "like being a child reading a picture book." Murase highlighted the manga's originality and Kiriku's charisma, adding that recording sessions have been lively thanks to a rotating cast of unique guest characters.
The Premise
The source manga by Hidenori Yamaji (山地ひでのり) runs in Shogakukan's Sunday Webry, a digital manga platform. Six volumes are currently available, with volume 7 due August 10.
Soara is a girl raised for one purpose: fighting monsters. On the day of her first battle, she's told the war is over. Left without direction, she wanders until she meets Kiriku and his band of dwarves, self-proclaimed "Demon Realm Architects" who travel the monster world building homes for its inhabitants. Through her time with them, Soara gradually discovers a new reason to live. The series bills itself as an "unprecedented fantasy architectural adventure," built around the idea that monsters deserve a place to call home too.
Production Details
Director Takaharu Ozaki (Girls' Last Tour, Goblin Slayer) helms the project at studio FelixFilm. In his comment, Ozaki said he was immediately drawn into the manga's world, characters, and story, describing it as a work where complex plotting resolves into something satisfyingly simple.
Series composition comes from 久尾歩 (likely Ayumu Hisao), with character designs by Tomoko Iwasa (岩佐とも子) and music by 椿山日南子 (likely Hinako Tsubakiyama). Iwasa said she aims to carefully portray Soara's emotional growth alongside the expressive, endearing monsters. Tsubakiyama described her score as focused on warmth and the quiet strength of building something for someone else.
Original creator Yamaji shared a celebratory illustration, comparing the collaborative anime production to the story itself: many people coming together to build something, just like Soara and Kiriku's crew constructing a home.
Looking Ahead
Soara and the House of Monsters is confirmed for 2027, though no specific season or premiere date has been announced yet. The ultra teaser PV and key visual released with the announcement are the project's first public materials.
The source manga is licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, so international readers can get a head start on the story before the anime airs. No streaming partner has been confirmed for international markets.
A signed poster giveaway featuring autographs from Hasegawa and Murase runs on the anime's official X account through July 12, 2026.
