Three Veterans Round Out the Japanese Voice Cast
Takuya Eguchi (Loid Forger in Spy x Family) plays Savane, described in the announcement as a charismatic fighter. Hiroyuki Yoshino (Present Mic in My Hero Academia) plays Sabba, a laid-back art student who drifts through the story at his own pace. Masahiko Tanaka (Dot Pyxis in Attack on Titan) voices Jung, introduced only as a legendary former traveler.
The three join a dub roster announced in August. Sho Hatano voices protagonist Terrence, with Asami Tanno as Eve, Kaede Hondo as Lydia and Daisuke Namikawa as Neil. Takuya Masumoto, Serika Hiromatsu and Makoto Furukawa play Ben, Nity and Sealvia. Soichiro Kubo is directing the Japanese audio at Tohokushinsha. That is what makes the project unusual: a French production is getting a full Japanese-language version, not the other way around.
A French Shonen That Went Home to Japan
Reno Lemaire has been drawing Dreamland since 2006, and it now runs to 24 volumes in French at Pika Edition, with roughly 800,000 copies in print, according to a report from Japanese anime news site Anime Anime. Lemaire's work belongs to what French readers call manfra: comics made in France in an openly shonen register. Dreamland is its flagship. Euromanga and Asukashinsha have been publishing Japanese-language volumes since October 2024.
A French artist spent two decades drawing a battle-shonen series in the visual grammar of Weekly Shonen Jump, and the anime version is now going to air on Japanese television at two in the morning on a Saturday with a domestic voice cast. That does not happen often.
What dreamland Is Actually About
Terrence has been afraid of fire since his mother died in one. One night, inside a lucid dream, he takes control of the fear instead of running from it, and wakes up as a dream traveler in Dreamland, a world built out of human dreams and nightmares. The fear becomes a power: in Dreamland, he can control fire.
Juan Pablo Machado and Joe Celse direct, with Jean-Luc Cano and Antoine Maurel on series composition, Benedicte Ciaravino on character design and Fabien Nataf composing the music. Animation is by Ellipse Animation and La Chouette Compagnie, with Dupuis Edition & Audiovisuel producing.
The show lands in the ANiMAZiNG!!! block, a late-night slot carried across 24 stations on the ABC TV and TV Asahi network, going out Saturdays at 2:00 a.m. from October 17, 2026.
Looking Ahead
International fans do not have to wait for a licensing scramble on this one. Crunchyroll and French platform Animation Digital Network both stream the series from October 17, one episode a week, with season one running 10 episodes of about 22 minutes. Crunchyroll has not said whether it will carry the Japanese dub track, the French original, or both.
The manga is the harder get. Pika Edition publishes it in French, and Euromanga and Asukashinsha handle the Japanese release, but no English-language publisher has been announced, so the anime is currently the only way in for readers who do not read French or Japanese.
